"Professionalism in Procurement"

Come join ISM-EVA as we explore a variety of topics that all combine to highlight the key attributes of purchasing’s role in the Supply Chain. Areas such as modernization, clearly defined competencies, transparency, ethics, professionalism, and social responsibility augment the high standards expected in this role. Additionally, Dr. Steinfeld may also discuss his research in contract management that focuses on public stewardship, strategic contracting, and public-private partnerships (PPPs).

Speaker: Joshua SteinfeldAssistant Professor, Old Dominion University

Dr. Joshua Steinfeld is an Assistant Professor at Old Dominion University’s School of Public Service and is Director of the Graduate Certificate in Public Procurement & Contract Management. His research is focused on the strategic orientation of public procurement and is a leading scholar in areas geared toward professionalization of the field, which involve professionalism and social responsibility. Additionally, Dr. Steinfeld is conducting research in contract management that focuses on public stewardship, strategic contracting, and public-private partnerships (PPPs). Prior to joining the Strome College of Business, Dr. Steinfeld was a Visiting Instructor at University of Central Florida and an Instructor at Florida Atlantic University, where he earned his Ph.D. He also completed an M.S. in Finance at Johns Hopkins University, an M.P.S. in Organizational Leadership at University of Denver, and a B.S. in Business Administration at Boston University. Dr. Steinfeld has worked on numerous public procurement projects at organizations such as The World Bank, the Public Procurement Research Center, and the National Council for Public Procurement and Contracting. Dr. Steinfeld’s favorite part of the job is teaching courses and mentoring students in their professional development.
